America's Policys
America was still a young country, and we didn't want to get pushed around. Or, at least the people of America didn't. At the time before the Spanish American War we were in a foreign policy of Isolationism. This meant we would not get involved in any war scene unless for a good reason. Remember, I said that "we didnt want to get pushed around, and go to war." Congress actually did want to go to war with someone. We got pushed around for our size. Congress and even our president, William McKinley, wanted war. They wanted more land and territory. When we heard about the Cuban rebellion, we sent a ship to them. We wanted to help them only because they were our neighbor. Not relizing it, we were about to start a war with somthing called, "Yellow Journalism." We will talk about that later. Now, we will take you on the journey of The Maine.
